Seattle guitarist Michael Powers added ukulele to his arsenal and his newest CD, Urban Ukelele, shows his versatility. Hear Michael on his classic recording of "Sara Smile" as well as selections from Frosty The Bluesman on Smooth In Seattle. When asked about his musical style, Michael says "If I had to put a label on it, I would call it contemporary instrumental music. It’s a sound rooted in the Jazz tradition that keeps pace stylistically with Pop, R&B, and Blues; with Blues being at the core of my inspiration". Keep up with his performances in the NW at michaelpowersmusic.com.
Friday, Dec 23: Portland Saxophonist Patrick Lamb
Like many instrumentalists, Patrick combines influences of Funk, Soul, R&B, and Jazz to create his own unique sound as a performer and a songwriter. Living in the NW, Patrick has continued to infuse his southern roots and influences. Patrick’s newest CD, It’s All Right Now, was produced by keyboardist Jeff Lorber and is currently receiving national recognition. Hear him in concert January 8th at Jazz At Marine View in Tacoma.
